About the Ensemble
Group of diverse musicians who focus on the practice and experimentation of methods of conducting, sound creation and premiering repertoire. The ensemble is routed in the development and application of creative solutions for musical ensembles and musicians specialized in improvisation.
The ensemble work on the language of Sound painting (at an academic level), composing and improvising without a conductor, premiering repertory live, graphic sheet music, mixed models etc. The group has a breadth of experience in interdisciplinary projects and specialize in the creation of sound materials which allow for dialogue between soloists specialized in improvisation. Another important aspect for the group is their experience, training and participation in educational and social projects.
The Baktun Ensemble has performed in the Centre Cultural Albareda, Mercat de les Flors, Centre Cívic Casa Groga, Iglesia Sant Pau del Camp, La Bàscula, Fuga Bcn and more. The group perform and rehearse together on a weekly basis as well as take part in workshops alongside Walter Thompson.
